The colour red is considered to be the norm for warnings. However, the Munich-based US automobile specialists GeigerCars.de have thrown conventional knowledge on its head by unveiling their newest model with eye-catching brilliant green paintwork. After the Dodge Challenger SRT-8 (569 HP) and the Corvette Z06 Bi-Turbo, the Ford GT "Geiger HP 790" is the third star (890 HP).
The 5.4-litre V8 engine in Karl Geiger's latest design lives up to its moniker, producing 790 horsepower, which is 240 horsepower more than the series equivalent. What is the source of this massive power surge? Above all, replacing the 2.3-litre compressor with a more powerful 4.0-litre compressor results in a combustion chamber pressure of over 1.25 bar. To provide even more fresh air to the eight cylinders, larger throttle valves and a sports filter were installed. Of course, the engine and gear cooling systems, as well as the engine electrics, had to be changed to the new design.
The Ford GT Geiger HP 790 accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, 200 km/h in 6 seconds, and 300 km/h in 22.8 seconds, all to the accompaniment of bloodcurdling roars from the two 110-millimetre sports exhaust tailpipes, which were developed in-house. Until you reach 360 km/h, thrust and air resistance are in balance. The supercharged V8 produces the most power (6320 rpm) and the most torque (863 Newton-metres) at 4600 revolutions.
A ride like this is clearly not for the inexperienced, but experienced drivers will appreciate the specially engineered Coilover suspension. Its hydraulic shock absorbers include adjustable pressure and rebound damping, which can be adjusted to meet the demands and preferences of drivers, as well as the terrain.
With a 60-millimetre lowering, the traditional Ford sports car proportions are pushed even farther. The wheel housing can't be high enough, with magnificent matt black alloy wheels outlined in the car's colour, measuring 9x20 inches in the front and an astonishing 11x21 inches in the back. The front axle's 245/35R20 Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres ensure precise wheel command transmission, while the drive axle's 325/30R21 tyres are constantly fighting for grip and traction - if only to avoid disappearing in a cloud of blue smoke.
