This year, the BMW M, the name of the most sporty model from BMW, can look back on 50 years of history. The BMW M has a proud history with several unique models. The latest addition is the BMW M4 CSL, which mixes old-fashioned racing passion with new technology and design.

"CSL" stands for "Competition, Sport, Lightweight," with explicit reference to the critical role of weight-minimized design in achieving success in motorsport. In 1973, the BMW 3.0 CSL won the European Touring Car Championship - on the first try. The brand new BMW M4 CSL also follows in the footsteps of special editions of previous BMW M3 / M4, with highlights such as the legendary BMW M3 CSL from 2003 and the BMW M4 GTS unveiled in 2016.

M Carbon full bucket seats reduced weight by around 24 kg compared to the standard seats in the BMW M4 Competition Coupé. In addition, 21 kg were saved by removing the rear seats and modifying the luggage compartment. Chassis changes, including the extra light M Carbon ceramic brakes and unique alloy wheels, lowered the weight by 21 kg. By reducing the amount of sound insulation, a new 15 kg was saved, while the use of components made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) deducted an additional 11 kg in the calculation. In addition to the CFRP roof, the hood and boot lid of the entire BMW M4 CSL is also produced in this light and high-tech material. The rear muffler in the exhaust system is made of titanium and cuts more than 4 kg from the weight. Modifications to components such as the classic grille, taillights, floor mats, and automatic climate control shave 4 kilos.

The result is a weight of 1625 kg and an outstanding power-to-weight ratio of 2.95 kg/hp.

The brand new BMW M4 CSL is the fastest ever mass-produced BMW M, its even faster than the BMW M5. Under the hood, you will find a distinctive engine with a clear connection to the engine in the BMW M4 GTE racing car. With increased boost pressure in the two turbos and several adjustments to the engine management. The brand new BMW M4 CLS offers 550 hp and a torque of 650 Nm. The sprint from 0-100 km / h is made in 3.7 seconds. The sprint from 0-200 km / h is completed in 10.7 seconds, while the top speed first stops at 307 km / h. The all-new BMW M4 CLS thus enters history as the fastest ever series-produced BMW M.

The forces from the engine find their way to the asphalt through an M Steptronic eight-speed gearbox. In addition, the 19-inch alloy wheels on the front axle and 20-inch rear wheels are equipped with tires specially developed for this special edition.

The firmer connection of the engine and gearbox to the car's chassis is noticeable, especially during challenging and demanding driving on the track. The chassis technology benefits from many detail upgrades tailored to the new BMW M4 CSL. Examples are wheel suspension and suspension and damper systems that also consider significant weight savings.

The new BMW M4 CSL is painted in the Frozen Brooklyn Gray exclusive metallic color as standard. However, with visible carbon fiber surfaces and red accents, the new special model offers a unique expression that makes it recognizable among BMW's many M models. Alternatively, customers can specify their brand new BMW M4 CSL in the Alpine White or Sapphire Black metallic colors.

The design is characterized by the distinctive grille, spoilers, diffusers, and side skirts. With the BMW Laserlight, the stripes in the headlights glow yellow instead of white when the doors are unlocked and when the low and high beams are switched on - as an apparent reference to historic racing cars. The LED taillights also have a very characteristic light signature recognizable at a long distance in the hours of darkness.

The 2022 BMW M4 CSL offers a distinctive balance between sports car purism and everyday use. The unique M Carbon full-bucket seats for the driver and passengers offer comfort but ensues sport. The seats have a fixed back angle, forward/backward adjustments can be made manually, while the seat height is adjusted using a three-step screw coupling. They also have detachable headrests and allow the integration of a six-point belt system.

The Alcantara steering wheel, anthracite-colored roof covering, carbon fiber interior decoration, and "CSL" mark on the seats, center console, and rear panel are specific details found in the interior. Behind the seats, you will also find space for storing two racing helmets.
