With this sporty speedster, Volkswagen wants to defy the bad mood in the auto industry.

The interior is elegant and tailor-made for two people. The sports seats are covered with leather. The lightweight fabric top is operated by hand.

Volkswagen BlueSport Concept has an average of 42 mpg / 4,3 l/100 km (combined; Highway: up to 50 mpg); smaller than any other sports car.  Thanks to a 50-liter tank, the range is over 1,000 kilometers according to VW. The fuel cap opens and closes like an eyelid at the push of a button. Something like that only really exists in racing. The Volkswagen BlueSport roadster measures 3.99 meters.

The top speed is 226 km / h.

The BlueSport's 180 hp diesel engine is installed in the rear. Unusual for VW: The roadster has rear-wheel drive. The engine is ventilated by eye-catching air vents in front of the rear wheels. The two-liter engine delivers a maximum torque of 350 Newton meters.

The power is transferred to the rear wheels via a six-speed dual clutch transmission. Shifting takes place automatically or via shift buttons on the steering wheel.

In addition to the VW emblem and control buttons, the redesigned steering wheel also features an eco switch. If you press it, less power is available. The touchscreen monitor is located in the narrow centre console.

The Volkswagen BlueSport's sleek rear carries modern lights. The third brake light is integrated into the trunk lid above the VW logo. The lights have LED components on the inside that shine extremely brightly with every braking application. The Volkswagen BlueSport roadster stands on pretty 19-inch rims in 10-spoke design.
