You may not have even heard of this car, but it's the cheapest SUV on the market: Mahindra KUV100 NXT. It has been with us since 2018, and it is an SUV that costs less than 13,000 euros. And this price, considering how inflation has affected the sector, is something cheap. Despite this, even in its most basic configuration and the most affordable in the range, it has enough equipment to miss almost nothing. That is why it has become a good purchase option, as well as for other reasons that we will see little by little.
Mahindra KUV100 NXT is a small SUV that is only 3.70 meters long; that is to say, it is an SUV that competes against options such as the Suzuki Ignis or the Fiat Panda.
Mahindra KUV100 NXT can only be purchased with the three-cylinder gasoline engine with 87 hp maximum power and a five-speed manual gearbox. And it is a car that is only available with front-wheel drive and at angles that allow you to drive on roads in poor condition without any problem. Undoubtedly, its price of 13,000 euros for its basic equipment level is the most attractive.
But not everything could be good, right? The biggest problem with the Mahindra KUV100 NXT is that it registers an average consumption of 7.9 l/100 km. This is the worst data it has because inside, we find very good space for both the front and rear seats. Also, although it is a small car, it has a 243-liter trunk.
And as we said before, although it is a very cheap SUV, the reality is that its basic finish already has things like air conditioning, a height-adjustable steering wheel, a Bluetooth connection for smartphones, ISOFIX anchorages in the rear seats, rear parking assistance sensors, etc. However, if we go to the most equipped version, which costs around 3,000 euros more, we already have a better console, a 7-inch touch screen with GPS navigation, and a complete equipment set.
Right now, the Mahindra KUV100 NXT is the cheapest SUV. However, it is true that there are options that are relatively inexpensive, such as the MG ZS or even the Dacia Duster, which are cars of a much higher level. The data that most penalizes the Mahindra model, by far, is the average fuel consumption. Driving on the highway, this figure is reduced in a very significant way, but urban driving makes its small gasoline engine consume excess fuel.
