With 244 hp, all-wheel-drive system and larger than the Land Cruiser itself, the Toyota Highlander will be the flagship of the Japanese brand in Europe. According to Toyota representatives, Highlander is produced on the TNGA-K platform and will be available in Western Europe in the first part of next year.

Toyota Highlander has a body length of 4.95 meters, a width of 1.93 meters and a height of 1.73 meters and promises enough space for all seven passengers. The second row of seats can slide over a length of 180 mm so that the passengers on the last row can also benefit from generous legroom.

The trunk has a capacity of 658 liters, which can be expanded to 1,909 liters by folding the second and third rows of seats. The tailgate is opened electrically, the control being through sensors to allow access to the trunk with the arms occupied.

Toyota has prepared an infotainment system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, a system for wireless charging of mobile phones, ventilated seats and a central rear-view mirror capable of taking pictures of the rear traffic.

Toyota Highlander is equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense assistance system that allows you to avoid accidents (or diminish their severity). This includes a pre-collision system with active steering, detection of pedestrians during the day and night, adaptive cruise control with speed limit detection and an assistant for maintaining the lane.

Toyota Highlander will be available in Europe only with a hybrid propulsion system consisting of a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors (one on each axle). The hybrid system delivers 244 horsepower (engine torque has not yet been communicated), and the electric motors are backed by a Nickel-Metal (NiMH) battery located under the second row of seats. The AWD-i (All WQheel Drive-intelligent) all-wheel-drive system is also part of the Japanese manufacturer's offer. Toyota reports a combined consumption of 6.6 liters / 100 km.
