If you're looking for a sleek, stylish, and sporty electric vehicle that can also handle some off-road adventures, you might want to check out the Polestar 4, the latest offering from Volvo's electric sub-brand.
The Polestar 4 is a new kind of SUV coupe that combines the best of both worlds: a spacious and comfortable interior with a low and aerodynamic profile, a powerful and efficient electric drivetrain with an advanced all-wheel drive system, and a minimalist and futuristic design with a rugged and versatile character.
The Polestar 4 is based on the same Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform that underpins the Volvo XC90 and XC60, but it has been modified and optimized for electric performance. The car has a dual-motor setup that delivers 408 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. The car also has a 78 kWh battery pack that provides an estimated range of 310 miles on the WLTP cycle, which is comparable to some of the best EVs on the market today.
But the Polestar 4 is not just about speed and range. It's also about handling and versatility. The car has an adaptive air suspension that can adjust the ride height by up to 3 inches, depending on the driving mode and road conditions. This means that the car can lower itself for better aerodynamics and stability on the highway or raise itself for more ground clearance and traction on rough terrain. The car also has a torque vectoring system that can distribute power between the front and rear axles, as well as between the left and right wheels, to enhance cornering performance and agility.
The Polestar 4 is also a smart and connected vehicle that features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by Android Automotive OS. This means that the car can integrate seamlessly with Google services such as Google Maps, Google Assistant, Google Play Store, and Google Pay, as well as other third-party apps and services. The car also has a wireless charging pad, a Harman Kardon premium sound system, and a head-up display that projects key information onto the windshield.
The Polestar 4 is expected to go into production in late 2023, with deliveries starting in early 2024. The car will be available in two trim levels: Launch Edition and Performance Edition. The Launch Edition will start at $69,900, while the Polestar 4 Performance Edition will cost $79,900. Both versions will qualify for federal tax credits and state incentives in the US, making them more affordable than some of their competitors.
The Polestar 4 is a bold and ambitious attempt to create a new segment in the EV market: an SUV coupe that can do it all. The car has a lot of potential to appeal to customers who want a stylish, spacious, powerful, efficient, versatile, and smart electric vehicle that can challenge Tesla and other established brands. The Polestar 4 is not just another EV; it's a new kind of EV. @via Polestar.
